Welcome! Wikis are websites that everyone can build together. It's easy!

Applications

New Applicants

City Limits has a very active, friendly and welcoming cast. We have a great time in and out of scene and are proud of our community. We consider ourselves to be writers in a shared community, rather than simply players in a game. This means that the cast is committed to creating meaningful, high-quality entries which help to advance character development and plot.

If you submit an application, please treat it as you would any writing for the community. Follow the community guidelines in your application to let us know you've read them thoroughly and understand our expectations.

To apply, please read below and send the following items to rpgbirthright@yahoo.com:

Your Name:
AIM:
E-mail:
Character Name:
Celebrity Likeness (avoid those already on the character roster):
Character History/Profile:
Writing Sample (for the desired character):

***But wait! Before you submit it, have a look at Wiki's article on Mary Sue and the infamous Mary Sue Litmus Test. Avoid 'sue-ing' when possible. We're all a little guilty. This test is hilarious and reminds us to tone it down a little.***

Each member of the 3-person moderating team will review the application. Once a consensus is reached, you'll receive a reply. It may include feedback such as suggestions for minor alterations. You can expect to hear back in 1-5 days.

If you're applying for original characters...

By intentional design, the majority of the characters in City Limits are originals. We welcome applications for originals at any time.

There are few limitations to the type of original character you may apply for. If it's well-written and grabs the interest of the moderating team, there is a good possibility your character will be approved, unless it seems too similar to an existing one. Anticipate that the moderators might want to fine-tune the profile or character details with you.

Helpful hint... Balance your character's strengths with weaknesses.

Applications for full-time characters with pre-existing connections to current characters will be considered on a case-by-case basis (for example, the sibling of a present character). We ask that characters not be created specifically to interact with one character.

If you're applying for canon characters...

'Canon' characters are those which were created on either of the television series or published literature (for instance, the Scooby Gang or members of Angel Investigations).

Our community focuses primarily on original characters. Applications for canon characters will be considered sparingly. Canons must be prepared to interact with a predominantly original cast.

If you're a current member applying for additional characters...

Please send the following items to rpgbirthright@yahoo.com:

Member Name
Character Name
Character PB (celebrity image used)
Character History / Profile
Sample of New Character Writing

Each member of the 3-person moderating team will review the application. Once a consensus is reached, you'll receive a reply. It may include feedback such as suggestions for minor alterations. You can expect to hear back in 1-5 days.

Moderator approval is not required to create temporary 'NPC' characters for your plots, unless it is a canon character. Please discuss with other writers any plots you're creating that may affect their story lines.

Please let a moderator know to expect your application for an additional character. Anticipate that moderators may want to work through profile or character details with you. Thanks! We're excited that you'd like to get more involved.
